As homework, please post three quotes from the play Hamlet that exemplify some of the themes that we have been discussing. Post the quote, cite the page using MLA format, and write a sentence or two about how it helps build a theme.
Here's a reminder of some (not all) of the themes we have discussed:
Revenge
Loss
Madness
Familial Relationships
Duty
Etc.
Welcome to my blog! This blog will be used for educational purposes in my future classroom. It will allow my students to communicate with each other and with me about any questions or comments they have about their work or class. It will also allow me to post homework assignments and get students writing for a wider audience.
How was your school day?

Creative Writing
Let's practice our creative writing skills. I'm going to post a list of titles, and I want you to use one of the titles to create a poem. I don't care what the poem is about, just make sure you link it to one of the titles that I've posted. This should get your creative mind working; a title can spur on a lot of new ideas. We'll vote on the poems in class and the best one will get extra credit.
Here are your potential poem titles:
Around Here
Sometimes I Wonder
What If
In the Blue
While I Was Dreaming
Finding The Truth
My Funny Little Poem
Do whatever you want with this. It can be funny, serious, or even ridiculous. It can rhyme or not rhyme. You can choose to use elements we have seen in the famous poems we have been studying, or make your own format. Be creative!

Here's a little extra practice for your writing. Tell me what's wrong with the following sentence and correct it to the best of your ability. When you correct a sentence, post a new incorrect one for your fellow students to fix. Keep in mind that your sentence should have a clear problem that can be fixed using the writing techniques we have been discussing in class.
Here is the first sentence:
We wanted to go to the movies this weekend, but we didn't have a way to get their so we stayed home instead.
What's wrong? The first person to correct it can start things off with a new sentence.

Writing Help
Many students have a hard time when it comes to writing an essay. There are so many rules that we must follow, and it can be difficult to make sure we are getting our point across. Post any problems you are having with your essays. If you want, copy and paste a problem sentence so we can edit it as a group. You can also use this as an opportunity to work on your Works Cited page. You will be responsible for posting one question about your writing and responding to one post from a fellow student. If you don't have any questions, post your thesis so we can see if it is strong enough to lead your paper.
Independent Reading
What have you been reading on your own? Are there any good new books out that you are enjoying? Write a brief summary of your independent reading book for extra credit towards your participation grade.
Shakespeare Sonnet 116
One of my favorite Shakespeare Sonnets is Sonnet 116. Follow the following link to find it in full text. http://www.shakespeares-sonnets.com/ Look at the images Shakespeare uses to make his point. What does he compare love to? Is it effective in getting his point across? What is his main point? Leave your comments to get extra credit towards your participation grade.
